There\u2019s travel, and then there\u2019s OutThere travel<\/a><\/strong>. We take immense pride in being part of an industry that has long been a wellspring of inspiration, offering life-changing experiences that broaden the mind, nurture the soul and provide glimpses into the extraordinary. At the close of last year, we had the privilege of attending ILTM Cannes<\/a><\/strong>, the global gathering where the future of luxury travel is shaped. It was here that we discovered some truly remarkable experiences and \u2018unscripted journeys\u2019. These encounters, alongside the passionate individuals behind them, align perfectly with OutThere\u2019s vision: ones that spark joy, curiosity, shared humanity and connection. They will undoubtedly guide our travels in the year ahead (and beyond).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As we thunder into 2025, the weight of the world seems to have shifted \u2013 and inevitably, the way we travel shifts with it. So much has unfolded in just one month: the new, rather impetuous American administration, a succession of natural disasters and ongoing global conflicts, all fuelling anxiety, uncertainty, division and a reckoning with the values we hold dear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a time that demands reflection, intention and purpose. Last month, The Experientialist published a two-part series (part 1<\/a><\/strong> and part 2<\/a><\/strong>) exploring the motivations shaping how we travel this year. We suggested that luxury shouldn\u2019t, and mustn\u2019t, be reduced merely to five-star excess or repetitive, overproduced, glossy clich\u00e9s. Instead, it should centre on unscripted journeys that are profoundly human. These experiences should not only delight travellers but challenge us, immersing us in cultures that long to be heard, and reminding us that empathy and exploration must always go hand in hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For us, the luxury travel brands of today (and tomorrow) aren\u2019t ones that just give customers what they think they want \u2013 they\u2019re the ones that dare to be different. True luxury, we believe, lies in pushing boundaries, crafting experiences that move people deeply, inspire critical thinking and foster genuine connections with the world around them. Unscripted journeys should also challenge conventions and be free from conformity or expectations. Of course, the essential luxury hospitality boxes must still be checked, but the most memorable experiences will be led by heart and vision, often weaving together diversity, sustainability, cultural immersion, and humanity, to reimagine what luxury can and should be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Slow luxury<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In an increasingly complex world that accelerates at an unnerving pace, slow travel offers a soothing balm for the soul and mental well-being \u2013 a deliberate pause to reconnect with what (and who) truly matters. For some, it\u2019s a radical reclamation, an opportunity to immerse themselves in the present moment, fostering deeper connections with the places and people they encounter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belmond<\/a><\/strong>, the exemplar of timeless elegance, storytelling and soul-stirring luxury, has embraced a \u2018slow luxury\u2019 philosophy this year. Their unscripted journeys are celebrations of refinement where the pace of travel becomes as enriching as the destinations. Every detail, from their exquisite hotels and trains to serene waterborne retreats<\/a><\/strong>, remains thoughtfully curated: a collection of savoured moments that unfold slowly, deeply and meaningfully for their guests over time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To celebrate \u2018slow luxury\u2019, Belmond has launched yet another iconic railway experience: the Britannic Explorer<\/a><\/strong>, the first luxury sleeper train in England and Wales, which is set to debut in July. This journey is somewhat symbolic of Belmond, reminding travellers of the power of connection and the railway\u2019s romantic legacy as an escape and gateway to new adventures. The Britannic Explorer will offer three scenic routes through Cornwall, the Lake District and Wales, with guided excursions and exclusive access to cultural treasures along the way. Gastronomy will take centre stage (or carriage, rather) with bespoke menus crafted by Michelin-starred, British (of course) chef Simon Rogan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, Les Bateaux Belmond<\/a><\/strong>, the brand\u2019s fleet of seven floating luxury canal barges, has appointed Chef Dominique Crenn as its first culinary curator for the 2025 season. Renowned for her three Michelin stars \u2013 she was the first woman in France to receive them \u2013 and her commitment to innovation and sustainability, Chef Crenn will curate two signature menus for cruises through Burgundy, Champagne and the South of France. As her new menu debuts this year, Chef Crenn shares a personal milestone\u2026 she will celebrate her first wedding anniversary to her wife, actress Maria Bello.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At ILTM Cannes, The Experientialist was honoured to meet some powerful, diverse women driving the world\u2019s most exceptional luxury brands. These remarkable individuals, whose expertise and vision are reshaping the future of travel, served as a true inspiration. In an era where progress on diversity, equity and inclusion is increasingly under threat \u2013 especially amidst the regressive policies of figures like President Trump \u2013 we feel that it is more vital than ever to spotlight role models who are celebrated not just for their gender, but for their immense talent, stewardship, leadership and groundbreaking contributions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout her recovery, she sought solace and strength from nature, particularly the serene landscapes of the Greek countryside. It is also the motherland of the world\u2019s fastest woman \u2013 Julien Alfred \u2013 who set the new Olympic 100m sprint record at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Julien has often spoken about how Saint Lucia motivates her as a runner, inspired by the natural beauty, vibrant culture and the strong sense of community the country offers. Saint Lucia\u2019s love for sports and moreover its recent resilience in overcoming the Covid pandemic, natural disasters and long-established socio-economic issues brought on by colonialism, fuel her ambition to excel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visitors to Saint Lucia will know it for its idyllic beaches and incredible luxury resorts. But travellers can take a page out of Julien\u2019s book and set off on their own physically demanding test \u2013 the Three Peaks Challenge<\/a><\/strong>. The challenge is a multi-day hike that involves climbing the island’s three highest peaks: Mount Gimie (950 m\/3,117 ft), Petit Piton (749 m\/2,461 ft), and Gros Piton (798 m\/2,619 ft). It is popular among outdoor enthusiasts and adventure seekers, offering an opportunity to experience the natural beauty of the island’s rugged terrain, lush rainforests and stunning panoramic views.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
